San Simon public market closed on December 24-25

RESIDENTS of San Simon have until Wednesday, December 23, to purchase goods from the public market as the facility will be closed on Thursday, December 24, until Christmas Day.

Acting Mayor Leonora Wong said the whole public market will be closed on the said dates to prevent the possible convergence of people in the area.

She said the measure was based on the guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Diseases for the safe celebration of the holidays.

"This is just a precaution to the foreseen surge of people in the market which can cause the quick spread of the virus," she said.

Wong, meanwhile, asked Simonians not to engage in panic buying, as she assured them that there is enough supply of goods in the market.

She added that the facility will be open the whole day on December 23 to cater to all consumers who are shopping for their Noche Buena.

"The Christmas rush is already here but let us not also forget that Covid-19 is also still around so let us continue following our health protocols for a safe and happy Christmas celebration," she said.
