Barmm gives equipment to Maguindanao hospitals

THE Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm) has provided complete sets of mechanical ventilators to government hospitals across the region to strengthen its efforts and capacity in addressing the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Lawyer Naguib Sinarimbo, Minister of the Interior and Local Government (MILG-Barmm), and Dr. Amirel Usman, OIC-Minister of Health (MOH-Barmm) led the turnover Monday, December 21, of complete sets of two mechanical ventilators to Maguindanao Provincial Hospital and Datu Blah Sinsuat District Hospital in Upi, Maguindanao.

Dr. Elizabeth Samama, Maguindanao provincial health officer, and Dr. Michael Macion, Datu Blah Sinsuat District Hospital chief, received the mechanical ventilators in a turnover ceremony held at the Barmm government center in Cotabato City.

The ventilators were provided through the Barmm-Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (Barmm-READi) and will soon provide similar equipment to five other hospitals in the region.

The Barmm-READi is the region’s disaster risk reduction management operation center attached to the MILG-Barmm.

Sinarimbo said the ventilators forms part of the region’s effort to continually increase hospitals’ capacity to address Covid-19.

“We will try to work together with the Ministry of Health to bring about increased focus in the health facilities of these hospitals as well as personnel,” Sinarimbo added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
