Zamboanga City Covid-19 recovery cases stands at 90%

THE recovery rate of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) remained at 90 percent in Zamboanga City, a health official announced.

Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, City Health Office chief, said this city has registered 3,248 recoveries out of the total 3,576 confirmed cases, as of Monday, December 21, 2020.

The first time the recovery rate of the local Covid-19 cases has reached 90 percent was on December 12.

Miravite said of the 3,576 confirmed cases, 167 are active with 161 deaths.

Of the total active cases, 162 are community-related while the remaining five are locally stranded individuals.

Miravite said of the 167 active cases, 42 are admitted to the government-run Zamboanga City Medical Center, 33 in private hospitals, and the remaining 92 are admitted to the isolation facilities of the local government.

She said the mortality rate is pegged at four percent of the total cases.

The health official expressed hope that the trend of Covid-19 cases will remain as it is, although there were instances the daily cases are high.

“Based on our data, the spreaders or those who infect most are usually those with symptoms, that is why we immediately isolate them,” she said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
