Benguet sports complex up for bidding

A WORLD-CLASS sports complex in Benguet is being laid out as bidding for its P165-million improvement is being assured.

Congressman Eric Go Yap, Benguet legislative caretaker and ACT–CIS party-list representative, is optimistic the bidding for the improvement of the Benguet Sports Complex in Wangal, La Trinidad will push through the soonest.

“Kapag pina-bid personally babantayan ko po ito dahil gusto ko po talaga na masigurado na hindi nanakawin itong proyekto na ito," Yap said.

Yap said the improvement of the sports complex will include a rubberized Olympic standard running oval, construction of additional bleachers and the improvement of the gym inside the complex.

"That is my commitment for the people of Benguet," Yap said, adding the fund is already ready for downloading once the bidding is completed.

The lawmaker added that once the sports complex is fully developed, Benguet can be a potential host of upcoming local, regional, national and even international sports competitions in the future.

Yap, who chairs the House Committee on Appropriations, said the improvement of the sports complex must be implemented in the province while he is serving as a caretaker.

The solon added he hopes Benguet will become a training ground for upcoming national athletes once the improvement of sports complex is finished.

Once the improvement of the sports complex is complete, Yap said he will also source out funds for the construction of an Olympic size swimming pool by 2022.
