Public warned vs illegal firecrackers

Central Luzon police officials on Thursday, December 24, 2020, called on the public to avoid using illegal firecrackers during the New Year revelry.

Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon, Central Luzon police director, said a continuous inspection by authorities in all firecracker stores and warehouses regionwide is being conducted.

De Leon said he is also inspecting police provincial and city offices to assess their preparedness and initiatives in curbing cases of indiscriminate firing and firecracker-related injuries.

The province of Pampanga has one recorded case of illegal discharge of firearm, while Nueva Ecija has one reported victim of a stray bullet.

The public was advised not to purchase illegal firecrackers such as Watusi, Piccolo, Poppop, Five Star, Pla-Pla, Lolo Thunder, Giant Bawang, Giant Whistle Bomb, Atomic Bomb, Atomic Triangle, Large-sized Judas Belt, Goodbye Delima, Hello Columbia, Goodbye Napoles, Super Yolanda, Mother Rockets, Kwiton, Super Lolo, Goodbye Bading, Goodbye Philippines, Bin Laden, Coke-in-can, Pillbox,

Boga, Kabasi and others.

The sale and use of pyrotechnics or commonly referred to as pailaw may still be allowed such as Fountain, Jumbo Regular and Special Luces, Butterfly, Mabuhay, Roman Candle, Sparklers, Trompillo and Whistle Device.

“We once again appeal to the public to refrain from using illegal firecrackers to avoid any injuries. Instead of firecrackers, we could all enjoy the Holidays with other forms of merriment,” De Leon said. (Ric Sapnu)
