THE city government of Zamboanga continue to appeal the public to strictly comply all safety and health protocols for their protection against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

This, as this city has recorded a total of 3,601 confirmed cases of Covid-19 with 3,262 recoveries, as of Thursday, December 24.

Of the total, 176 are active cases and 163 mortalities based on the Covid-19 Data Tracker, an online information tool that provides real-time updates on covid-related issues.

“By protecting yourself, you are also protecting your family, your community and our city. Wear face mask and face shield, wash hands frequently and observe physical distancing, said Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar.

Meanwhile, Salazar said that the local police on Saturday, December 26, recorded 325 violations of health protocols.

The mayor said the violations were as follows: 27, non-observance of physical distancing; 93, curfew hour violations; 43, non-wearing of face mask; 20, unauthorized motorcycle back-riding; 17, no valid identification card; and, 125 non-wearing of face shield.

She said the violators were slapped with administrative fines. (SunStar Zamboanga)
