P5.4-M worth of illegal drugs seized in Angeles

NEARLY one kilogram of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) was seized over the weekend by authorities during a buy-bust operation launched in Angeles City.

Director Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon, director of the Central Luzon police, said the illegal drugs were recovered from three suspects identified as Noraden Ariray, Roberto Carbungco and Anthony Bonifacio.

De Leon said Ariray is listed as a high-value target and Carbungco is included in the city's drug watchlist, while Bonifacio was already incarcerated for 10 years due to illegal drug charges.

Seized from the trio were 11 sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of P5.44-million and the P5000 marked money used in the operation.

The suspects will be facing charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of the Republic Act 9165 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

De Leon warned individuals who plan to commit crimes that the regional police will not stop implementing the law even during weekends and holidays.

"As we keep on working double-time to stop the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region, we also urge everyone to help us in our campaign against illegal drugs," De Leon said.
