GOVERNOR Gwendolyn Garcia plans to implement the “No left turn, right turn only” policy on the highway that traverses the cities of Talisay and Naga and the municipality of Minglanilla to prevent traffic gridlocks.

Garcia told reporters on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, she wants to adopt the scheme in the south after it helped ease traffic in Consolacion and other parts of northern Cebu.

Garcia said she will meet with Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas Jr., City of Naga Mayor Kristine Vanessa Chiong and Minglanilla Mayor Elanito Peña to consult them on the move.

The governor said they need to map out a strategy in implementing the policy to help manage heavy traffic in the south, particularly in Minglanilla.

“Especially in Minglanilla, where there are like over 20 intersections and there are a lot of residential areas there. We have to thoroughly plan and study this one,” Garcia said.

Aside from the three mayors, officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways Second District will be present during the consultation meeting.

Garcia said they will conduct a thorough information dissemination drive before implementing the new traffic policy. (ANV / JKV)
