FIFTEEN motorcycles and other vehicles were impounded by operatives of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) Central Visayas, local police and traffic enforcers in a joint operation conducted in Carcar City on Wednesday, December 30, 2020.

The apprehension was based on HPG's Oplan Lambat Bitag, which focuses on motorists carrying spurious documents.

Police Capt. Mike Gingoyon of HPG's Cebu Provincial headquarters said during their operation, they were able to issue 86 temporary operator's permits and 18 traffic citations.

Thirteen motorcycles and two four-wheeled vehicles were also impounded after they were apprehended, Gingoyon said.

Most of those apprehended by the HPG 7 were those who had no vehicle registration, those who were overloading, those who had unprescribed bed for trucks, those driving without a helmet and those who had faulty vehicle lights.

HPG 7 Chief Col. Erwin Rebellon said the operation started on Wednesday morning.

Gingoyon urged motorists to just follow the prescribed traffic rules to avoid getting caught in HPG's operations.

Gingoyon said their operations are aimed to ensure that Cebu Provincial roads are safe for motorists especially for those traveling to their hometowns for the New Year holiday. (PAC/JKV)
