Zamboanga City Covid-19 recovery rate climbs to 92.37%

THE local Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on coronavirus disease (Covid-19) announced that the Covid-19 recovery rate in Zamboanga City has climbed to 92.37 percent.

The local IATF said that 3,364 patients have recovered out of the 3,642 total confirmed Covid-19 cases, marking a 2.37 percent increase in recovery rate to 92.37 as of Tuesday, December 29, from 90 percent recorded on December 21.

Of the total recoveries, the local Covid-19 tracker data showed that 2,808 are community related, 301 local stranded individuals (LSIs), 188 city reformatory center (CRC)-related, 25 returning overseas Filipino workers (ROF), 22 detainees, 17 Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) personnel, and three returning residents from Malaysia.

The tracker data also showed that 111 of the 3,642 are active cases with 167 deaths.

The 111 active cases include 104 community related, four LSIs, two detainees, and one CRC-related, the tracker data showed.

The 167 deaths comprised of the following: 163 community related, two CRC-related, one LSI and one detainee.

Despite the high recovery rate, Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, reiterated her appeal to the public to faithfully comply with safety and health protocols and to avoid social gatherings.

Miravite feared that the Covid-19 cases in the city to would reach over 4,000 after the holiday season when many continue to disregard the protocols and attend parties and other gatherings despite the restrictions. (SunStar Zamboanga)
