Life has been good to most of us, particularly my family and friends. Since 1984, Cebu has been my second home. I joined a few civic business and multi-sectoral groups. Music and education were my roots of fulfillment. The University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) has been my citadel of values and knowledge. I look forward to 2021 with new perspectives—my priorities being family, good health, and teaching. Here are how some perceive 2021.

1. Nellie Chiu, former president of Zonta Club of Cebu 1

I wish that 2021 will be a year when families and friends will be healthy and safe. I wish the Zontians continue to pursue their service and advocacy, including the support of Unicef projects for children. A toast to peace and harmony in our communities!

2. Glenn G. Pajares, dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at USJ-R

I hope 2021 will be a better year economy- and health-wise, and that education will be a priority.

3. Ramon Sebastian, president of We Care

I wish to see an ecological Cebu where plants thrive and bloom in homes, and healthy living is a priority.

4. Robby Aguilar, PR and marketing professional

While we may not be able to completely go back to how things used to be, I wish that in 2021, we can slowly start returning to our ways of life. I also look forward to the Covid-19 vaccine.

5. Sally Dy, business-woman and member of We Care

I wish that 2021 will be a year when things return to normal, when we can travel abroad again and go to places without fear of contracting the virus. I wish that people will no longer suffer from the effects of the pandemic and that we will appreciate the gifts of God.

6. Anita Cabinian

The year 2021 is not going to be a good year with Covid-19 still around. Businesses and jobs will be slow. Local tourism might perk up because people want to go out after months of staying home. We need to create new norms and business strategies.

7. Cutie del Mar

The year 2021 will be a better year than 2020. I would like to see a much kinder year in 2021, with the virus gone for good. People will still be careful, making a good way of life. I hope to see businesses slowly recovering from their losses so more people can be employed again, and children being able to go back to school.

8. Mary Ann Tan, USJ-R Drac Allef scholar

I wish that those who are affected by Covid-19 will have the strength to overcome difficulties. I wish for my family’s safety, the recovery of businesses, new happiness, new goals, and new achievements with Sto. Niño in our hearts.

9. Nonie Uy, Zonta Cebu 2

The year 2021 will be better. People will be adapting to the new normal, going out but choosing the places with open air. I see more weddings, small groups of 30 people celebrating with family and friends. I also hope business will pick up.
