2 'carnappers' arrested

TWO suspected carnappers were arrested in a follow-up operation by operatives of Police Station 3 in Purok Abaka, Sitio Pana-an, Barangay Mailum, Bago City Sunday afternoon, January 3, 2021.

Police identified the suspects as John Carlo Conde, 21, of Barangay Banago; and Angel Caponong, 20, of Barangay 27, both in Bacolod City.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said the suspects were arrested after they carnapped the motorcycle of Jessie Boy Orbino, 33, which was parked on Buri Road, Barangay Mandalagan Sunday morning.

Police recovered from the suspects' possession a XRM motorcycle owned by the victim and a Rusi motorcycle.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 3 and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10883 or the Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.

Meanwhile, a theft suspect was also arrested by operatives of Police Station 6 on Lopez Jaena Street, Barangay 31, Bacolod City Sunday.

Police identified the suspect as Freddie Lavega, 46, of Barangay Handumanan.

Pico said the suspect was arrested after he took the cellular phone of Tangerene Pamposa, of Barangay 30 inside the public utility jeepney around 10 a.m.

He said Lavega tried to escape, but he was cornered by policemen who were conducting a roving patrol in the area.

Police recovered from Lavega's possession a Samsung cellular phone owned by the victim.

The suspect is detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 6 and facing theft charges.
