Pangan: A new year of reprieve

MOST of us are hoping that the new year 2021 would bring good tidings in all aspects of our existence.

We have been tried and several times tested by various fora and it is obvious that we have taken a lot of flak and beating from all sides.

We have barely survived the tremors of year 2020, a date which should go down in time's history as one as eventful and damaging, to say the least.

For the year 2021, we just aim to start on the right footing and gradually move on, constantly reminded of previous blunders.

2021 will usher in the political circus in the Philippines. Politics is a way of life here in the country as several individuals put their dear lives on the line just to achieve their political ambition.

For some, it is a source of income; to others, it is a mission. Whatever the reason, it is indubitable that politics defines the character of almost everyone who dabbles in it.

Indeed, politics brings out the best and worst of men. Some play by lofty ideals; others simply live by the sorrows of others: they cheat, they pay someone to kill and continue to swear forgiveness.

Our political system has not improved through the years and the machinery we use is archaic and deplorable. We thought of embarking on an electronic style of voting but still it has flaws, serious flaws. One thought of going back to the manual style of voting, still others favor a hybrid fashion. Whatever may be the style to be used in future electoral exercises, if our mindset is still corrupt, then we are doomed. It will be back to the dark ages of voting!

In observance of the health protocols, Fiesta Communities Tabun Mabalacar City Homeowners Association Inc. (FCTMCHAI) conducted on December 23, 2020 a Virtual Holiday Party using the main online tools: Facebook, Zoom and Google Meet where the participants stayed in their homes and answered the questions via social media.

Leading the affair is the usual energetic and driving hard Rod D. Monis, Jr., BOD and Auditor who also acted as host and main director of the online show. Co hosting with him was Juvielyn Salazar. A spin-a-win type was used to determine winners of toys, cash prizes and grocery items. It was a successful affair and another feather on Rod's and HOA's caps.
