Goho: Herd-based prison

MOST of us fail to seize the opportunity to become our truest selves and often live our lives seeking validation from society, imprisoned by the various tribes of tradition and religion.

This is typically the natural programming ingrained within us while we are children, and sadly, it may have significant repercussions in the fundamental endeavor of truly discovering oneself.

It is but of course critically essential to take responsibility for our own lives and sort out every facet of our growth, maturity, and development. There is however a slippery slope that leads us to a path of stagnancy, meaninglessness and emptiness when we become primarily fixated on the surface and superficial aspects.

While we are all geared towards contributing to the human species and thereby aim to add meaning and value to our collective goals, there is a tendency for all of us to miss the mark when priorities are misplaced and values are not intact.

At times we lose sight of what is essential and aim for sameness, comfort and preservation where potentials are not maximized and growths are stunted. Ultimately, this limits any notion of flexibility, individuality and creativity which are integral in allowing us to become who we truly are.

Most of us find ourselves in a self-imposed jail enslaved to a herd mentality. Perhaps due to fears of many unknown factors such as being shunned, being labeled odd or different, and even losing our statuses and titles. Most times we conform to the surrounding noises to try to impress which in reality reeks of many deep-seated insecurities.

Perhaps to live a free and authentic life, it may be essential to embark on this narrow and difficult path and embrace the suffering that comes along the journey. It may be lonely and painful to embark on an unconventional and rebellious process but it may ultimately be beneficial and substantive to our character and inner nature in the long run.
