Talks for La Trinidad festivals set

The holding of this year’s Strawberry Festival in La Trinidad, Benguet has remained in limbo.

According to Mayor Romeo Salda, this will still be decided in the upcoming meetings of the local government.

Salda added members of the Strawberry Fest Executive Committee will convene next week to talk on whether the annual coffee festival and strawberry festival will be held this year.

The annual Strawberry Festival is one of the festivals held in the town since 1981 to showcase its one town, one product – strawberries – which is conducted every March.

In 2020, with the Covid-19 pandemic, members of the Strawberry Festival executive committee agreed to cancel the festival, heeding the call of the Department of Health against holding crowd-drawing activities.

Before 2020 ended, the valley opened 11 various tourist destinations in the town to residents in a bid to promote health and wellness and boost the economy of the town.

Data showed for December 2020, 4,007 locals visited Mt. Kalugong, 3,152 in Darjane’s Garden, 1,215 in Living Gifts, 1,852 in Admirals Farm Park and 806 in Garden Nen Ines.
