THE Bacolod City government honored its 50 employees, who have retired from the service in 2020, at a tribute at the Government Center last January 7, 2021.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia lauded the retirees for spending many productive years of their lives serving the City.
“You are part and parcel of Bacolod, and Bacolod would not be where it is today if not for your contributions,” the mayor told the retirees.
“You have spent your precious time working for Bacolod. I wish you’ll now be able to live your life as you please. Spend as much time as you can with your family,” the mayor added.
The retirees received tokens and plaques from the City during the program organized by the Human Resource Management Services Office (HRMSO).
HRMSO head Erman Aguirre said this is an annual tribute by the city government to recognize the valuable service of the retirees.
Among the 50 retirees, Jose Torrecampo, revenue collection clerk at the City Treasurer's Office, had served the longest with 47 years in the service.

Leonardia said the City Hall retirees contributed a lot to the growth of Bacolod City through their outstanding performances.
Last year, Bacolod was the “Most Competitive City in the Visayas for 2020” based on the annual rankings of Philippine cities by the National Competitiveness Council (NCC). At the regional level, it was declared the “Most Improved Highly Urbanized City in Western Visayas for 2020.”
The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the biggest organization of businessmen in the country, had consistently ranked Bacolod as a national finalist in its Most Business-Friendly Cities competition for four years in a row, or from 2017 to 2020.
In 2019, Bacolod was declared the “Best Performing City in Western Visayas” at the Excellence in Local Governance Awards of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). It was also the “Top Philippine Model City” for 2019 of The Manila Times.
Bacolod was a national awardee of the 2019 Seal of Good Local Governance of the DILG - which included the city among the select LGUs in the country to be eligible to grant the Performance-Based Bonus for its employees in December 2020 - which retiree Torrecampo confirmed was the first ever given in 47 years.
“We were able to receive these awards because our employees like you are performing well,” Leonardia told the retirees. (PR)
