Bacolod to validate road clearing of villages

THE City Government of Bacolod will conduct a validation inspection on the accomplishment of barangays with the Road Clearing Operations 2.0 (RCO 2.0) after its deadline on Friday, January 15, 2021.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia said he expects that by January 15, all barangay officials will have already complied with the RCO 2.0 within their areas of jurisdiction.

He said he has yet to receive a copy of the barangays report and normally, he is receiving reports during the given deadline.

“My expectation is they will come rushing when the time comes. Everything here will go into the validation process because, in the end, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) itself will come here to validate the submitted reports of the barangays,” he added.

DILG earlier required all local government units to continue the RCO 2.0 from November 16, 2020, until January 15, 2021.

“The deadline of the RCO 2.0 will be on January 15, 2021, so they have to make sure that by January 15, they will have complied with the directive,” Leonardia said.

He said barangays have their styles or strategies in removing all illegal structures within their areas of jurisdiction.

He added that based on the memorandum of the DILG, barangay officials who fail to function will be penalized.

The mayor noted in 2019, DILG had given Bacolod City an 87 percent on its accomplishment on road clearing operations.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran earlier said most of the barangays already cleared the illegal structures within their areas of jurisdiction, except for those who have legal issues.

He said barangays also served notices to owners of illegal structures in various areas in Bacolod City.
