Only 12.8% of Covid beds occupied

OF THE hospital beds allocated for coronavirus disease (Covid-19) patients, only 12.8 percent were occupied by patients based on data of the Department of Health (DOH)-Central Visayas dated January 10, 2021.

If you get Covid-19 and you will need hospitalization, chances are a private hospital in Cebu could accommodate and treat you.

How many beds. DOH-Central Visayas data showed that private hospitals in Cebu have allocated a total of 895 beds for Covid-19 patients broken down as follows: 794 regular beds and 101 intensive care unit (ICU) beds.



Occupied. Of the 115 persons admitted, 103 are patients assigned to regular beds and 12 in the ICU, for a total utilization rate of 12.8 percent.

Available beds. What are available for Covid-19 patients needing hospitalization are 691 regular beds and 89 ICU beds, for a total of 780 available Covid beds.

Who will take care of patients? There are 1,841 healthcare workers assigned to these Covid patients. A total of 1,812 of them are in active duty and 29 of them in quarantine.



How’s the testing? As to the Covid tests conducted in the region’s laboratories, the DOH-Central Visayas said a total of 2,056 results were released on January 10. Of that number, 95 were positive test results. (SunStar Cebu/From PR)
