1 dead, 1 hurt in road collision in Zamboanga City

A FISH trader was killed and a policeman was hurt in a road collision in Zamboanga City, the police reported Thursday, January 14, 2021.

Police Captain Albin Cabayacruz, Zamboanga City Police Office’s (ZCPO) Station 7 chief, disclosed the incident happened shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday on Fr. Salvador Street in Santa Maria village, Zamboanga City.

Cabayacruz identified the fatality as George Lozada Pioquinto, 50, and wounded as Police Staff Sergeant Muktar Maharail Ali, 37. Both were driving motorcycles at the time of the incident.

Cabayacruz said the two collided head-on when Pioquinto overtook a four-wheel vehicle and failed to notice the oncoming motorcycle while en route to the city proper.

He said the responding medical team declared Pioquinto dead on the spot and rushed Ali to the hospital for treatment. (SunStar Zamboanga)
