DESPITE the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in Mandaue City, the City Government will not use some public schools in the city as quarantine facilities.
The city will also stick to its game plan in fighting Covid-19 and the B.1.1.7. Sars-CoV-2 variant (UK variant), which was already detected in the country.
Based on the Department of Health (DOH)-Central Visayas bulletin on January 14, 2021, Mandaue City has 95 active Covid-19 cases, an increase from 89 active cases last January 13.
Mayor Jonas Cortes’s executive secretary John Eddu Ibañez said there is still no need to reactivate the use of some public schools.
He said the existing isolation facility of the city can still accommodate the increasing number of Covid-19 patients.
The City, Ibañez said, has divided the functions of the two new isolation facilities located at the Norkis Park and the former Cebu North Bus Terminal.
The Norkis Park will be used as the quarantine facility for all Covid-19 patients.
The former Cebu North Bus Terminal will be used as a quarantine facility for returning Mandauehanons from other countries who need to undergo strict 14 days of facility-based quarantine as advised by the DOH.
After a swab test, if the returning resident will turn out positive for coronavirus, the person will be transferred to the Norkis Park facility.
Those who will turn out to be negative of Covid-19 will continue to serve the 14 days of facility-based quarantine at the former bus terminal.
As of now, Ibañez said the City is still using the Mandaue City Central School as the isolation facility since the construction of the health worker station at the Norkis Park is still ongoing. (KFD)
