Mabalacat mayor tests negative for coronavirus

MABALACAT City Mayor Cris Garbo has tested negative for Covid-19 in a recent swab test following his exposure to Vice Mayor Geld Aquino who contracted the virus.

The mayor said he received the result of his swab test on Thursday, January 14, 2021, two days after Aquino revealed that he contracted the virus.

Garbo said all of Aquino's closed contacts at the city hall tested negative for coronavirus.

On Monday night, the mayor said he talked to the vice mayor over the phone on Monday night.

Garbo quoted the vice mayor as saying that he had no known exposure to a Covid-19 patient.

On Monday morning, Aquino even visited the office of the mayor, according to Garbo.

"It so happened that he was our guest on Monday. In fairness to him, he does not know that he contracted the virus," Garbo said.

Aquino is now recuperating at a medical center with only mild symptoms, the mayor added.

The vice mayor will complete the 14-day quaratine period, Garbo said.
