Magalang LGU prohibits fiesta celebration

THE local government in Magalang town, Pampanga is prohibiting fiesta celebrations this month in a bid to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The municipal Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) recently issued Resolution Number 1 Series of 2021, preventing people from visiting other barangays to attend fiestas.

Checkpoints will be established in Barangay Santo Nino on January 16 and 17, San Ildefonso on January 22 and 23, San Pablo on January 24 to 25, Kabayu Sarul on January 29 and 30 and San Roque on January 30 and 31.

"Bawal po muna ang pagbisita sa mga naturang barangay sa mga nasabing petsa. Hinihingi po namin ang inyong kooperasyon sa ating laban kontra Covid-19," the municipal government said.

The Municipal Health Office recorded 157 total cases of Covid-19, as of January 14.

Some 135 patients had recovered and 12 had died from the virus.

Mayor Romy Pecson asked his constituents to cooperate with the municipal government to prevent the spread of the virus in the locality.
