DAR-Negros Occidental I named top performer in Western Visayas

GARNERING 27 awards, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental-North was hailed as the "Best Performing Operating Unit" in Western Visayas during the recently concluded Calendar Year 2020 Regional Assessment and Planning Conference held at Diversion 21 Hotel, Mandurriao in Iloilo City.

DAR-Western Visayas recognized its accomplishments on claim folder preparation and documentation covering 2,024 hectares; land survey for 2,896 hectares; land valuation for 2,181 hectares; emancipation patent or certificate/land ownership award (EP/Cloa) registration for 1,844 hectares; EP/Cloa distribution covering 3,795 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs); and installation of 2,099 ARBs.

DAR-Negros Occidental I also excelled in land acquisition and distribution information schedule (Ladis) preparation for 2,415 ARBs; training for 16,431 ARBs; provision of access to credit and microfinance to 2,962 ARBs; organizational development and strengthening; provision of credit and microfinance services; ARB organizing/development for 6,609 farmer-beneficiaries; organizing/development for 25 newly organized Arbos; provision of business development services for 44 Arbos; provision of climate resilient farm productivity and support; provision of climate resilient farm productivity and support; ARB ID distribution; and judicial cases resolved.

In terms of percentage, the agency was recognized for its accomplishments on ARB installation -- 167 percent; subdivision of collective Cloas -- 202 percent; redocumentation activities -- 180 percent; redocumentation of distributed but not yet documented land -- 117 percent; preparation of Ladis -- 537 percent; organizational development and strengthening -- 238 percent; and judicial cases resolved.

For support to operations, DAR-Negros Occidental I was recognized for compliance to early procurement (earliest date posted for bidding) and most accurate and comprehensive report.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (Parpo) II Teresita Mabunay, who represented the provincial agency along with Parpo I Milagros Flores, said such achievement was made possible through the collective efforts of the personnel who "tirelessly worked and fearlessly braved" the threats posed by the pandemic.

"May these awards and recognition inspire us to do more to champion our cause in serving the farmers in Negros Occidental," she added.
