Over P160,000 shabu seized in Bacolod

AN ESTIMATED P169,680 worth of shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride was seized in separate drug bust operations of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) in Bacolod City Thursday evening, January 14, 2021.

The operations also led to the arrest of Ana Marie Dacones, 42, of Barangay 10; Vincent John Martinez, 28, of Barangay 10; and Albert Oñates, 31, of Purok Bulak, Barangay Mandalagan.

Police Major Charles Gever, chief of Police Station 4, said Friday Oñates was arrested after he sold a sachet of shabu to a police undercover around 9:45 pm in Purok Bulak, Barangay Mandalagan.

Police recovered from Oñates’ possession five sachets of shabu, a pack of marijuana, a marijuana plant and the P500 marked money.

Gever said the recovered contraband weighing 17 grams had an estimated market value of P115,600.

Oñates was identified as a street-level individual in Bacolod City. He was under surveillance for almost a month before his arrest.

Dacones and Martinez were also arrested by operatives of Police Station 1 in Purok Dughan, Barangay 10 around 8:45 p.m.

Police Major Jovil Sedel, chief of Police Station 1, said the suspects were under surveillance almost a month before their arrest.

Police recovered from the suspects’ possessions 12 sachets of shabu weighing 6.76 grams with an estimated market value of P54,080, the P200 marked money and drug paraphernalia.

The suspects were detained at the custodial facility of Police Stations 2 and 4. They are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
