THE pool of players in the upcoming 2021 PBA Rookie Draft just got deeper with the entry of De La Salle University’s ace guard Andrei Caracut, who submitted his application papers at the league’s office in Libis on Thursday, Jan. 14.

The former UAAP Rookie of the Year adds another highly regarded prospect to a draft pool that is being considered one of the deepest the league has ever seen. The PBA Rookie Draft is slated for March 14.

The 5-foot-11 lead guard was a stud for the Green Archers in UAAP Season 82 where he averaged 9.6 points, 4.1 assists and 3.0 rebounds. He then suited up for Alab Pilipinas in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Basketball League before the 2019-2020 season was shelved because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Caracut joins other noteworthy names in the draft pool led by local standouts Alvin Pasaol and Cebuano forward Leonard Santillan.

Other players who have submitted their application forms are Don Reverente of the Pasay Voyagers, 6-foot-7 big man Ben Adamos and frontliners RR de Leon, Med Salim and Reymark Acuno, who previously played for Southwestern University-Phinma.

Aspirants have until Jan. 27 to submit their applications. /JNP
