Central Luzon police launch infodemic drive

POLICE in Central Luzon conducted an infodemic drive in some parts of the region.

According to Regional Community Affairs Development Division Acting Chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Romell Velasco, Coronavirus Awareness Response and Empowerment (Care) Infodemic Drive is composed of a series of socio-civic activities that is aimed at attaining maximum information dissemination in the fight against Covid-19 through conveyance of its origin, symptoms, complications, mode of transmission, prevention and help dispel misinformation.

The drive was recently conducted in Aurora, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija and Olongapo City.

Velasco added that the program was designed to instill Department of Health protocols and other necessary information on Covid-19 to different police stations in the provinces and highly urbanized city mentioned earlier.

In turn, these areas are expected to conduct similar activities to barangays within their jurisdiction.

The barangay version of Care was conducted on January 13 in Maria Aurora town in Aurora province with about 70 participants. Attendees received grocery items after the activity.

“We saw the need to address the concern of preventing COVID-19 by reaching out to the community and ensuring that they get the most reliable, timely and accurate information they need to face the current global health crisis,” Police Regional Director Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon said.
