LAST year was too much for everyone. Whether or not you lost your job, lost a loved one, or lost the chance to go home during the holidays, it was a year of challenges and adjustments.
When we go through hurdles like that, we understand that a new year is a new chance for everything -- an opportunity to start over. That’s why New Year’s Resolutions are a thing.
Today, we give you tips and suggestions you might consider in your own journey starting over this year.
1. Take skincare more seriously.
You might have started for quite a while now and would have wished you are more consistent this year. Skincare is a beauty trend nowadays especially for millennials and Gen Z. However, it is also important to keep in mind that your skin may be different for others’ skin. Therefore, what works for you will not work for the others. Discern, research, and read the labels. If the need arises, check with a dermatologist.
It also helps if your skincare investment is not only on the products but on your lifestyle such as the number of sleeping hours, diet, and stress consumption.
2. Upgrade your wardrobe.
This might be too simple an advice but it will work wonders. Your wardrobe may be pretty mundane but dressing according to your comfort and appropriateness of the event/place will not only bring you confidence but as well as good impression from the people you interact with.
One doesn’t need to spend too much on branded items. Rule of thumb is it should fit you well, look good on your body, age, and skin color, and you are comfortable in it.
Maybe get advice and inspiration from fashion websites. Dress according to your job and age, as well.
Meditation can work wonders not only to your mind but as well as your physical being. When you meditate, you help calm your mind. Whenever faced with stressful situations, people who meditate on a regular basis tend to have more ideal responses.
If you’re not sure how to start, there are basic meditation apps available on download. If you find yourself suited to this practice, there may be more advanced meditation groups in your community that you can join.
I personally believe that when your mind is not cluttered with unnecessary thoughts, it results in a more pleasant physical look of your face. You tend to smile more naturally, your brows are not burrowed, and you tend to be happier to be with.
4. Do something fun with your hair.
If you had been used to years of donning your hair in a simple black straight ‘do, do something fun. Maybe color it in brown, maybe perm it. Maybe try some ombre or balayage. Or better yet, something bold like a pixie cut -- a totally different look from your long straight hair.
Do this with a trusted hairstylist and ask what might suit you based on your lifestyle and the shape of your face.
This also goes true for guys. Do something fun with your hair!
