The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) commends the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for putting a close watch on the murder of Atty. Joel Wee and the ambush of Atty. James Joseph Gupana.
NBI arrested last week the alleged contractor in the murder of Atty Wee and the ambush of Atty. Gupana.
Lawyer Regal Oliva, the president of the IBP Cebu Chapter said that they will be keeping a close eye on the handling of the cases and hopes that this will lead to the eventual resolution of both crimes.
"We believe that these cases are not yet closed until the alleged criminals will have their day in court and be given a fair and speedy trial. And if there are more people involved in the crimes mentioned, we hope for the resolute development," said Oliva.
Oliva said that IBP looks forward to the day that the lawyers will not become targets of criminal activities for performing their jobs./KFD
