Anti-drug stings net 3 persons, P184,000 shabu

POLICE operatives arrested three people, one of them an alleged big-time drug pusher, and seized some P184,000 worth of shabu in separate anti-drug campaigns in Zamboanga Peninsula, officials said Tuesday, January 19.

The Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula identified the arrested suspects as Edward Macajelos, 25; Norman Gutierrez, 34; and Nerissa Sojor, 38.

Macajelos was arrested by personnel of the Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit led by Police Lieutenant Leo Suan in coordination with Dipolog City police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in buy-bust operation around 7:55 p.m. Monday, January 18, in Purok Bougenvilla, Gulayon village, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.

Seized from the suspects were some P120,000 worth of shabu, P500 marked money, P400 in cash, a container and a cellular phone.

Gutierrez was arrested in a buy-bust operation Monday by operatives of Zamboanga City Police Office's (ZCPO) Station 5 led by Major Julius Dao-An in Guiwan village, Zamboanga City.

Dao-An said they recovered from the possession of Gutierrez some P30,000 worth of shabu packed in 11 heat-sealed plastic sachets, and P300 marked money.

Sojor was arrested by the operatives of ZCPO's Station 9 led by Captain Orlyn Leyte in a buy-bust operation around 1 a.m. Tuesday also in Guiwan village, Zamboanga City.

Leyte said that Sojor yielded some P34,000 worth of shabu and P200 marked money.

The suspects were detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
