DTI asks bizmen to register online

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Central Luzon urged existing and potential business establishments to register or renew their business name with the agency through the online platform to avoid face-to-face transaction and mass gathering.

The online business name registration is one of the innovations the agency has adopted last year in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.

DTI-Central Luzon Director Judith Angeles said establishments can now register through the online business name registration of the DTI which can be accessed through www.bnrs.dti.gov.ph and search for business name services.

Angeles said the online registration of business names can be done fully online, including the payment for registration.

While the DTI provincial and regional offices accept cash payments, registrants can also pay online through GCash, Paymaya and Landbank.

Angeles said the DTI is still working to partner with other payment institutions to enable business name registrants to pay through other online payment systems.

She also said that the volume of transactions for business name registration is at the start of the year and coincides with the application for business permit registration or renewal with the local government units.

She suggested that business owners should register early to avoid delays and unnecessary penalties for late registration.

As a reminder, Angeles also said that registration of sole proprietorships is within the mandate of the DTI, while corporations and partnerships are registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Cooperatives, on the other hand, are registered with the Cooperative Development Authority.
