Globe posts significant network improvements, say international analytics firms

GLOBE network improvements are gaining momentum, posting significant increases on various mobile experience metrics recognized by independent, international mobile analytics firms.

“We are pleased that efforts to upgrade our network are being recognized and reported by independent firms. More importantly, the network improvements are being felt and making an impact on the experience of our customers,” said Gil B. Genio, Globe chief technology and information officer.

Independent mobile analytics firm Opensignal in its report on users across five regions namely

Mindanao, National Capital Region (NCR), North and Central Luzon, South Luzon and Visayas said that overall experience across four metrics has significantly improved in all five regions, between Q4 2018 and Q3 2020.

For Video Experience, Globe saw its scores improving in three out of the five regions. In North and Central Luzon and NCR, Globe’s score rose by 40.6 percent and 30.3 percent, respectively, between Q4 2018 and Q3 2020, while in South Luzon, it rose by 24 percent.

For Download Speed, Globe users in North and Central Luzon saw a significant improvement of 42.1 percent, while South Luzon and NCR improved by 35.1 percent and 33.8 percent, respectively.

For 4G Availability or the proportion of time users spent connected to 4G services, Globe registered improvements in all five regions, with South Luzon at 18.8 percent, North and Central Luzon at 16.2 percent, NCR at nine percent, Mindanao at 8.1 percent and Visayas at 7.7 percent.

Latency Experience for Globe users was among the lowest across local operators, with improvements in North and Central Luzon at 14 percent followed by NCR at 13.4 percent and South Luzon at 11.6 percent. Latency experience refers to the delay or lag that users experience as data makes a round trip through the network.

Separately, independent analytics firm Ookla® in its quarterly data showed that in terms of mobile consistency score, Globe is now enjoying 52 to 64 percent consistency in high population density areas including Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol and Mimaropa. Mobile consistency score measures the number of incidences (viewed as percentage) of a provider's samples equal to or exceeding both a download threshold of 5 Mbps and upload threshold of 1 Mbps.

The Ookla results on Latency experience over the last three months show Globe's nationwide average Latency likewise also improving from 52 milliseconds (ms) in Q2 2020 down to 44ms in Q3 2020 according to test results using Speedtest®.

Faster download and upload speeds from the previous quarter were also recorded in Calabarzon, Central Luzon, Cordillera Administrative Region and Ilocos Region. Mimaropa, Bicol and Cagayan Valley Region showed faster download speeds and Davao Region showed faster upload speeds in Q3 2020. SPONSORED CONTENT
