Zamboanga City mayor seeks to rectify Covid-19 data report

MAYOR Maria Isabelle Climaco-alazar asked the Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday, January 21, to rectify its January 20 coronavirus disease (Covid-19) tally that erroneously placed the city in the number one spot nationwide in terms of number of cases registered on that day.

Citing the DOH Covid-data tracker, media outfits in Manila on Wednesday, Janauary 20, night reported that Zamboanga City registered the most number of Covid-19 cases at 206 on that day, making it number one in the list.

DOH-Zamboanga Peninsula officials said the number reflected in the data tracker of DOH-central office is not what they submitted and blamed the error to computer glitch.

Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, said that only 13 new cases were registered on Wednesday, bringing the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases for the city to 3,868 with 135 active cases, 3,552 recoveries and 181 mortalities.

Salazar has asked DOH-Zamboanga Peninsula to immediately write the DOH central office to make the necessary correction, stressing that the City Government, in collaboration with all concerned agencies -- both private and public, is exerting its best efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 and to consequently lower the number of cases in the city.
