MPBL hopes to finish stalled season in Subic

THE Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) is hoping that it could finish the stalled semifinals and finals in the Lakan Cup in a bubble setting that would be staged in Subic.

League commissioner Kenneth Duremdes said he and his team have already sent proposals to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and to the Department of Health, and they are just waiting for feedback from these agencies.

The league plans to hold the bubble in Subic, but the question is will the league be given the green light considering that the government has allowed only professional leagues to resume operations while amateur sports has remained idle.

The MPBL is down to its final game in the semifinal round with defending champions San Juan Knights-Go for Gold taking on Makati Super Crunch in the North Division, while Datu Cup runner-up Davao Occidental Tigers-Cocolife clashes with Basilan Steel-Jumbo Plastic in the South Division.

The winners of the do-or-die affairs would then advance to the best-of-five Lakan Cup Finals. (JNP)
