DAVAO de Oro First District Representative Manuel "Way Kurat" Zamora confirmed on Thursday, January 21, 2021, that he tested positive for the virus that causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

His official statement was posted by his daughter, Davao de Oro Vice Governor Maricar Zamora, on her Facebook page.

The House official said he has been in quarantine since January 17, 2021.

He said that while in self-isolation, he "is getting supportive treatment."

"I feel relatively okay and remain in contact with my doctors. Your prayers and wishes for my recovery would really help me bear this ordeal," he said.

The congressman also requested those whom he had close contact with to self-quarantine and report to the local health office for monitoring.

"It is also my request that we all continue to observe health protocols in the wearing of masks, face shields and frequent handwashing," Zamora said.

He also said that he would still continue to serve his constituents despite being under isolation.

He added his office will still remain open for all those who need his assistance and services.

Zamora did not emphasize where he had possibly got exposed with the virus.

Meanwhile, Davao de Oro Governor Tyron Uy is also under self-quarantine since last week after having been exposed to a confirmed Covid-19 patient.

Uy said he already underwent swab testing on Monday, January 18, and his result yielded negative.

But still, the governor said he will finish his mandatory isolation, and will limit his movements in the coming days.

"Tungod sa limitado akong movements sa mga musunod pa nga adlaw (Since I will be regulating my movement in the following days), all my meetings will be conducted virtually (Zoom)," Uy said.
