AN OFFICIAL of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Friday, January 22, 2021, said kasambahays or household service workers (HSWs) who contract the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) are eligible for cash assistance from the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC).

In a televised public briefing, DOLE Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC) Director Karen Trayvilla said infected kasambahays may apply for the P10,000 cash assistance.

They may also apply for the daily income benefit amounting to P480 per day for up to 14 days.

Trayvilla also said kasambahays may have their treatment expenses reimbursed.

The ECC cash assistance program aims to provide employees who fall ill with Covid-19 with P10,000 cash while those who succumbed to the disease are entitled to P15,000.

In applying for the cash aid, qualified local employees are required to submit a copy of two valid IDs, preferably office/company ID, SSS/GSIS, or other government-issued ID; certificate of employment declaring the employee’s last day of work prior to contracting the Covid-19; laboratory (RT-PCR) test result; and medical abstract.
