Barangay Carmen records highest number of Covid-19 deaths in Oro

BARANGAY Carmen has the most number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) deaths in Cagayan de Oro, recording a total of 20 deaths, City Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported on Saturday, January 23, 2021.

Following the said barangay are Barangay Lapasan with 18 deaths; Barangay Macabalan with 13; Barangay Gusa with 13; Barangay Camaman-an with 10; Barangay Balulang with 10; Barangay Bugo with nine; Barangay Puntod with eight; Barangay Tablon with seven; and Barangay Kauswagan with seven.

Despite Barangay Carmen having the most number of Covid-19 deaths in Cagayan de Oro, Retuya said Barangay Carmen is one of the areas with the lowest case fatality rate.

Barangay Puntod registered the highest case fatality rate in the city at 13.33 percent.

"Buot pasabot ana, gamay ra iyang kaso pero daghan iyang mga deaths," Retuya said.

The barangay with the second-highest case fatality rate is Barangay Macabalan at 10.74 percent, followed by Barangays Gusa (9.85 percent), Lapasan (8.74 percent), Tablon (8.33 percent), Camaman-an (6.85 percent), Bugo (6.16 percent), Balulang (5.56 percent), Carmen (4.75 percent), and Kauswagan with the lowest case fatality rate at 2.75.

"Kining mga deaths duna ning kasagarang mga comorbidities and most common comorbidity nga atong nakita is chronic kidney disease nga kasagara sa ilaha on dialysis," Retuya said.

Barangay Carmen also has the most number of Covid-19 cases in the city at 421.

The rest of the barangays are Barangay Kauswagan with 255 cases; Barangay Lapasan with 206; Barangay Balulang with 180 ; Barangay Camaman-an with 146; Barangay Bugo with 146; Barangay Gusa with 132; Barangay Macabalan with 121; Barangay Tablon with 84; and Barangay Puntod with 60.
