DSWD marks 70th anniversary with stronger service

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) marks its 70th founding anniversary this January with the theme, “DSWD@70: Kabalikat ng Mahihirap sa Panahon ng Pandemya.”

DSWD’s month-long celebration will focus on recognizing the invaluable service of DSWD personnel, partners, beneficiaries, and stakeholders who contributed towards the improvement of DSWD’s operations, especially during the ongoing pandemic.

Among the events that will be held on January 29 are the annual Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (Praise) Awards, which recognizes and rewards officials and employees for their outstanding contributions in the improvement of government operations, and the conferment of Loyalty Awards to employees and officials who have rendered 10 years or more of faithful government service.

Stakeholders and partners who have supported and contributed to the successful implementation of DSWD’s programs, projects, and services will also be awarded through the PaNata Ko (Pagkilala sa Natatanging Kontribusyon) sa Bayan Awards.

The department will also hold a photo exhibit featuring its significant milestone programs that uplifted the well-being of poor Filipinos.

Among the programs that will be highlighted include the Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (CIDSS) which became the basis for the Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS); the Self-Employment Assistance Kaunlaran (SEA-K) Project which is now known as the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP); the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) or the Listahanan; the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps); the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP); the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens (SocPen) Program; the Bangsamoro Umpungan sa Nutrisyon (BangUN); the Lingap at Gabay Para sa May Sakit (LinGap sa Masa); and, the Yakap Bayan Program which provides holistic interventions to assist recovering persons who use drugs (RPWUDs).

As DSWD reaches another milestone, the agency pledges to continue to strengthen its delivery of prompt and compassionate service to the poor and vulnerable sectors to enable them to meet the challenges of the pandemic and evolving challenges of the decade.
