THE Mabalacat City College (MCC) recently received an award from the Commission on Higher Education (Ched).

MCC formally received the Gawad Parangal Institutional Recognition from Ched Chairperson Prospero De Vera during a conferment ceremony on January 22 (Friday) at Bulacan State University in Malolos City.

MCC president Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong presented the distinction to Mabalacat City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo and City Administrator Emmanuel Ignacio during the flag-raising rites on January 25 at the Mabalacat City Hall.

According to Aguilar-Ong, MCC is among the nine out of the 12 local universities and colleges (LUCs) in Central Luzon to receive the recognition.

She said MCC has been promptly compliant both with the requirement of the institutional recognition by virtue of commission en banc Resolution 623-2017 and certificate of program compliance for all program offerings as certified by Ched Regional Office III.

As a recipient of the distinction, MCC receives a trophy and a Certificate of Eligibility, which qualifies the educational institution to avail of the benefits stipulated under the provision of Republic Act 10931 or Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act.

In his public address, Garbo expressed his elation to this "milestone" proving the college's capacity to provide quality and affordable education to indigent but deserving MabalaqueƱo youth.

"The Ched award adds another feather on the cap of our beloved city. It is a testament to the hard work of the local government and the college administration which further cements MCC's brand as an institution geared towards sustained education management and quality of instruction," Garbo said.

MCC president Aguilar-Ong also expressed her thanks to all the people and institutions who have worked hard to attain such a breakthrough not only for the college but for the whole city.

"Received the Gawad Parangal award for MCC tonight. Our gratitude goes to Ched, the local government of Mabalacat especially to Mayor Crisostomo Garbo, and to my predecessor MCC President Dr. Carmelita Soto who worked hard for this," Aguilar-Ong said in a Facebook post.
