THE Magalang town police recently acquired high-powered firearms, which are expected to strengthen its police's firepower.

Mayor Romy Pecson inspected the newly issued six units of Galil Ace 22N Basic Assault Rifle.

Lieutenant Colonel Joel Mariano, acting chief of police of Magalang, presented the rifles to Pecson and Municipal Administrator Lyndon Cunanan.

The assault rifles were procured by the Philippine National Police (PNP) through its modernization program under P.A.T.R.O.L Plan 2030.

Pecson lauded the PNP and said that these firearms will augment the strength of the local police, particularly in crime prevention and protection of the residents.

"Nagpapasalamat tayo sa PNP at sa ating kapulisan ng Magalang sa pagpapalakas pa lalo ng kanilang kapasidad upang masugpo ang kriminalidad sa ating bayan," the mayor said.
