THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) will look into complaints of some night shift workers who were apprehended for allegedly violating curfew on Monday night, Jan. 25, 2021, even if they were able to present their certificate of employment.

The curfew, which starts at 11 p.m. and ends at 5 a.m., is aimed at preventing gatherings in public spaces and keeping residents inside their houses to protect them against Covid-19 transmission.

Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla, deputy director for operation, said a worker’s certificate of employment must indicate the working hours so the police officers would know they are not out in the streets for no reason.

Parilla said the police officers were told not to apprehend workers who are on their way to their homes after work even if the curfew has started.

However, a worker who has a certificate of employment (COE)will be apprehended if he is inside a bar during curfew.

The CCPO has intensified its efforts to implement the curfew and the community quarantine protocol, which includes the observance of social distancing and wearing masks. (AYB / KAL)
