SAN Simon Vice Mayor Leonora Wong is facing another administrative charge for alleged irregularity in the purchase of a lot during her mayoralty term.
Two individuals named Donabelle Parungao and Maria Elizabeth Dimaata filed cases for dishonesty, oppression, misconduct in office, gross negligence and dereliction of duty against Wong before the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) on November 20, 2020.
Parungao said they are seeking clarity over the alleged failure of Wong to secure all necessary documents prior to her purchase of land in Barangay Sto. Niño here back in 2015.
The land in question is the site of Local Government Center, which now houses several facilities such as an evacuation center, a women and children's center, and a dialysis center.
"Based on our knowledge, the purchase of the land did not pass through the proper procedure as then-mayor Wong did not secure project study, held the required number of public consultations, and pass through the appraisal committee," Parungao alleged.
Parungao also questioned the source of funds used in the purchase of the three-hectare government land property.
The SP Committee on Justice, Good Governance and Accountability held the preliminary conference for the said case on Tuesday, January 26, and the trial proper will pursue in the coming months.
SunStar Pampanga reached Wong for comment on the matter, but the vice mayor declined as of Tuesday.
