AFTER successfully conducting the first-ever Young Leaders Congress (LeadCon) last 2018, LPU Davao will once again host the biggest gathering of student leaders in Mindanao yet for this year’s edition of the said event. To be conducted via Zoom, this year’s LeadCon is slated for February 25, 2021, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

With the theme “Cultivating Excellence, Building on Strength,” Young Leaders Congress 2021 will delve more into the discussion of the importance and urgency of Digital Leadership. This year’s speakers are Mindanaoan youth leaders, Mr. Christian Lloyd Espinoza and Mr. Jerry Louise Huerbana and Director for Human Resource Management and Development Office of LPU Batangas, Mr. Joseph Deligero. These young leaders will discuss Transformational Leadership in the Digital Age, Generation of Change: Maximizing Youth Engagement in Community Building and Local Governance, and Adaptability and Flexibility: Hallmarks of Situational Leadership, respectively.

Student leaders from Region 9 to Region 12 are expected to attend the said event. Young Leaders Congress 2021 is organized by LPU Davao that aims to empower youth to be catalysts in the new structure of Digital Leadership to drive sustainable change.

“This year’s LeadCon will focus on Digital Leadership practices that will help young leaders cope in the new normal. The virtual Leaders Congress involves engaging activities and more,” said Marketing Supervisor of LPU Davao, Ms. Frenchmel V. Cadayona, on the things participants must look forward to in the event. She further added that student leaders in this event will not only make resolutions and ideas in the field of education and research but more importantly address prevailing concerns under digital leadership.

Meanwhile, Vice President and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Felipe G. Balingit, Jr. stressed that since 2018, LPU Davao’s Young Leaders Congress has helped students from all over Mindanao to unleash their full potential as youth leaders. Even though the event will be conducted online this year, the fun and learning will still be the same or even better.

“As a matter of fact, some if not most of the students who joined the first LeadCon 2018 are now our best students in LPU Davao who are slowly but surely taking the lead — from active memberships in student councils to research conferences to publications and events here and outside Mindanao and more. We’re happy that we’re seeing the fruits of our hard work in LeadCon,” Dr. Balingit expressed.
