New 5th Scout Ranger Battalion commander installed

ZAMBOANGA. The Philippine Army installs a seasoned officer to head the Sulu-based 5th Scout Ranger Battalion (5SRB). THE Philippine Army has installed a seasoned officer as the new commander of the 5th Scout Ranger Battalion (5SRB) based in Sulu.

Colonel Freddie Dela Cruz, 1st Scout Ranger Regiment commander, officiated the turnover of command ceremony held last weekend at the headquarters of the 5SRB in Mampallam village, Taipao, Sulu.

Installed as new 5SRB commander is Lieutenant Colonel Eugenio Baquiran, who replaced Lieutenant Colonel Herbert Dilag, a medal of valor awardee.

Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan, Jr., commander of the Western Mindanao Command, and Major General William Gonzales, 11th Infantry Division commander, graced the turnover of command ceremony.

Gonzales congratulated Dilag for a job well-done leading a maneuver battalion while performing as assistant chief for operations of Joint-Task Force Sulu.

He also welcomed Baquiran and vowed to fully support the new battalion commander. (SunStar Zamboanga)
