Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala kept her winning streak going as she dominated Spanish netter Alba Carrillo Marin and won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, in the second leg of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) W15 Manacor tournament in Mallorca, Spain on Thursday night.

The win was the 15-year old’s seventh in a row and it placed her in the quarterfinal round where she will take on the 21-year old Ylena In-Albon, a Swiss player who has six ITF titles across her name and is ranked 1089th in ITF singles and 432nd in WTA singles.

Eala’s win over Marin was a repeat of her first round victory over the Spanish campaigner last November. The Filipina had previously humbled the 24-year old, 7-6, 6-1, in a match at the W15 Castellon tournament.

Eala encountered some trouble in the second set as Marin surged ahead 2-1. But she gathered her bearings in time to overpower Marin, who is ranked 56th in ITF singles action and 547th in WTA singles, and wrap up the match in just an hour and 23 minutes.

So far, it has been an impressive year for the Filipina youngster who entered this tournament as a Junior Reserve player. After winning the first leg of this tournament earlier this week, she hit the groud running in this tournament as she toppled the second seeded Mirjam Bjorklund, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, in the first round.
