Journeying to live wisdom

THE world has come to a standstill because of the pandemic with movement put to a halt or restricted.

For Frederick Huang Yuson, CEO and president of CWC International/CWC Interiors, who used to travel internationally almost every month for business and leisure, staying put in Manila has been one of the biggest changes these past ten months.

With more time in his hands, he reflected on what he has done and accomplished, and the possibilities that are yet to unfold.

"This welcome breather has given me a chance to look through my photographs from years ago. As I think about my life more, I am thankful for the opportunity to have captured that second in time which has remained personal and special to me," says the Davao-born businessman whose family is behind the development of Matina IT Park, MesaTierra Garden Residences, and the latest mega project Davao Global Township, in partnership with Cebu Landmasters Inc.

Love at first click

Twelve years ago, Fred took the first step in his photography journey when he joined a group of friends who were part of the Camera Club of the Philippines (CCP) in one of their trips in Bicol. Since then, being a shutterbug has become his lifelong passion.

"I developed my compositions and my understanding of light, lines, and shadows. I learned to pause and appreciate what was in front of me," the De La Salle University alumnus shares.

The avid golfer also formed a deep bond with his fellow photographers from the CCP, the oldest camera club in Asia, where he once served as president and now, director.

The years of sharing and camaraderie with his CCP friends in and out of the country are evident in his photography. Through them, the photographer who is also the current Mutya ng Pilipinas pageant chairman now sees people, places, and objects through his lens differently.

Promise of better days

Recently, Fred's stunning collection of photographs through the years were lovingly compiled by his darling wife Sarah and kids, Shaun and Stef, as their gift to him. It now serves as a unique memento given to 1,000 of his family, friends, and business associates to usher in the new year.

Aptly entitled "Journeying to Live Wisdom", the coffee table book impressively highlights his unforgettable adventures in Antarctica, India, Botswana, Bhutan, Cuba, Croatia, Turkey, Cambodia, Paris, Switzerland, Japan, Batanes, among others.

The beautiful keepsake is artistically divided into various themes which include Wildness and Wilderness, Exploration and Awakening, Strangers and Relationships, Community and Renewal, Earth and Spirit, Cuba Memorable Journey (in collaboration with CCP buddies Armand Apuya, Jorge Buenaventura, and Paul Resurreccion), and Discovering Purpose.

The group of Felice Prudente Sta. Maria, Agnes A. Sauler, and Oskie H. Ravanera as well as that of Armand G. Apuya, Patrick L. Uy, and Rey M. Ortiz joined forces as creative writers and coffee table book designers, respectively. Printing was done in the Philippines by GA Printing Inc.

"Each photo in this book has touched the same emotions that inspire me to motivate others to always do their best. I wanted to end 2020 in a different light. I know it will be forever remembered as a year of a global pandemic, but I will also see it as a year of hope and promise. My wish is that through my lens and this book, you will feel hope and live through the promise of better days to come," Fred enthuses.
