THE scanning of Safe Davao QR (DQR) and food and medicine (FM) passes in all the quarantine checkpoints in Davao City have been temporarily suspended.

Task Force Davao Commander Colonel Consolito Yecla confirmed this in a radio interview.

The suspension started on Wednesday, January 27.

Despite the suspension, all security personnel would still strictly implement the prohibition of non-essential travel in the city.

"We stopped the scanning of the DQR. But we are still strict in checking the travel documents, whether siya'y taga-Davao City or not. 'Yun ang ating gitagaan og importansya (This is what we gave importance to)," Yecla said in an interview on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio.

He said authorities will still be strict in checking anyone who will pass by the checkpoints to ensure that what they are doing is an essential activity.

This is to avoid any mass gatherings considering the city is still under community quarantine (GCQ) until February 28, 2021.

He added the suspension of the DQR scanning in checkpoints will not affect their operation since the QR system is only intended for contact tracing purposes.

Yecla said they will bar anyone who will go outside for amusement, entertainment, leisure, and gaming since these are considered non-essential activities.

The security official also said checkpoint personnel would require travelers to present some documents before allowing them to enter the city.

For the authorized persons outside residents (Apor), they need to show their company identification card and office travel order. If they are staying in the city and sleep in any accommodation establishments here, a confirmation from them should be submitted. This is only for a one-night stay.

For non-Apor, they need to have a travel confirmation coming from the

city which can be applied through a link that can be found on the City Government of Davao Facebook Page.

He said during the application of a travel confirmation certificate, they should submit the photos of their identification cards and vehicle to be used in entering the city.

For travelers coming from Luzon and Visayas, he said security personnel would still ask for a negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test result.

This in accordance with the issued Executive Order (EO) 62 (An Order Providing For The Guidelines on Enforcement of the Prohibition on Non-Essential Travel in Davao City), and EO 63 (An Order Providing For The Guidelines of Davao City as a Restricted Local Government Unit).
