THE Cebu City Council will temporarily go back to holding virtual sessions four months after it resumed its physical sessions held at the session hall in the Legislative Building of Cebu City Hall.

Vice Mayor Michael Rama said the Council will have the regular session on Feb. 3, 2021 via Zoom.

This, after the number of Covid-19 cases in the city increased again.

The city has been logging double digits of daily Covid-19 cases since Dec. 29, 2020. On Jan. 28, it logged three digits.

The Council shifted to virtual sessions in April 2020 to avoid any gatherings and limit exposures in the session hall.

When the Covid-19 cases in the city decreased, the Council went back to holding the session physically at the session hall in September.

Rama, in an interview on Jan. 29, said the special session which was supposed to be held on that day was canceled.

Rama said the Council was supposed to discuss the current Covid-19 situation in the city and the vaccination plan to be led by the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

Rama said due to the schedule of the EOC representatives, they decided to just cancel the special session.

“We will not be seeing each other in the session hall as we have not curbed the surge in cases yet,” said Rama. / JJL
