Rivera, Bacon take big fights, foes

PINOY pugs All Rivera and James Bacon are seeing action in separate events in the US on Jan. 31, 2021 (PH time).

Rivera locks horns with two-time world champion Rances Barthelemy in a 10-rounder at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles, California.

Rivera, the former Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) lightwelterweight champion, is coming off a win over Rodel Wenceslao via unanimous decision on Feb. 29, 2020.

Rivera fought once in the United States and lost by a first round knockout in 2019.

Barthelemy is looking to move up the light welterweight ladder in the hope of winning his third division title.

Barthelemy last fought in 2019 and settled for a split draw in a world title fight with Robert Easter Jr.

Rivera is 21-4 with 18 knockouts, while Barthelemy is 27-1-1 with 14 knockouts.

Meanwhile, Bacon is up against journeyman Ramon dela Cruz Sena in a 10-round fight at Four Ambassadors Hotel in Miami, Florida.

Bacon, a former ALA Boy, is fighting his third straight in the US. He knocked out both Gonzalo Dallera and Roque Junco in 2020.

Sena lost his last three fights. His latest was a disqualification defeat against Josec Ruiz.

Bacon, a native of Mandaue City, Cebu, is 25-4 with 17 knockouts, while Sena is 23-27-3 with 13 knockouts. (EKA)
