THE Pampanga Provincial Government and Foton Motors Philippines Inc. (FMPI) have signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to train and find employment for a number of Pampanga residents displaced by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda and FMPI president Rommel Sytin signed the MOA for the partnership on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved Resolution No. 5980 to formalize the MOA.
The project provides free technical vocational training for those who need new skills for employment as heavy equipment operators, drivers and mechanics.
Under the agreement, Foton will provide the technology and equipment for the skills training. It will also ensure the employment of the trainees.
The Provincial Manpower and Training Center (PMTC) of the provincial government will manage the operational funds and training program.
Pineda assured that the training, work area and procedures are compliant with the health and safety standards mandated by the Inter-Agency Task Force.
"We can help them get jobs through the provincial government. We will train them sa electronics, sa new technologies ngayon. It is our way of giving back to the province," Sytin said.
Luningning Vergara, Public Employment and Service Officer said the program was initiated by Governor Delta to provide an immediate and long-term remedy against unemployment amid the ongoing health crisis.
