Curfew patrols stepped up in Zamboanga City

POLICE and military authorities have intensified the conduct of curfew patrols in different parts of Zamboanga City, as the local government steps up its campaign to stem coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) transmission.

Zamboanga City Mayor Isabelle Climaco-Salazar had observed that some people flagrantly disregard the curfew law, unmindful of the threat of Covid-19.

Salazar directed security forces to intensify enforcement of the 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew hours, as the threat of Covid-19 remained unabated.

The mayor said in joint operations with the Joint Task Force Zamboanga Saturday, January 30, the Zamboanga City Police Office through its different police stations and operating units recorded a total of 316 curfew-related violations.

She said some business establishments were also ordered closed, per directive from Dr. Elmeir Jade Apolinario, local Task Force Covid-19 chief implementer, for operating during curfew hours. (SunStar Zamboanga)
